If you can dream it you can do it!

what & how

If you hear phrases out loud they will make perfect sense to you. Knowing what someone is saying is important, but knowing how they are saying it is even more important.

Sigurno ćete poboljšati izgovor imitirajući svoje omiljene likove i naučiti ponešto o kulturi i stilu života.

keep on pausing and playing

Ponovite kratke, a Vama zanimljive fraze.

No. 1 Love Actually (2003)

Love Actually is a ‘rom-com’. A lot of people watch this movie in winter because it is a Christmas film. This movie looks at eight different stories set in London, all of which are about love. This means that it is good to help you learn English accents as there are lots of characters, including Liam Neeson with an Irish accent.

If you are a fan of romantic films, Love Actually is a great choice to help you learn English.

“tiny, little, baby little hiccup” for ‘stellar’ plan

Sam is hoping to make Joanna “fall in love” with him. If you “fall in love” with someone, it means you are crazy about them and love them very much.

Daniel says that this plan is ‘stellar’, which means perfect or first-class. He then says, however, that there is a ‘tiny hiccup’. A ‘hiccup’ in this context means a ‘problem’. The problem with the plan is that Sam cannot play a musical instrument at all. This is actually a very big problem! When Daniel says it is a “tiny, little, baby little hiccup” he is being sarcastic. Brits are famous for this type of humour and it forms an important part of UK culture.

No. 2 The Holiday (2006)

Two women troubled with guy-problems swap homes in each other’s countries, where they each meet a local guy and fall in love. It was filmed in both California and England, and stars Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet as Amanda and Iris, two lovelorn (unhappy because of unrequited love) women from opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean, who arrange a home exchange to escape heartbreak during the Christmas and holiday season.

old cock-up

Arthur Abbot: I’m wondering why a beautiful girl like you would go to a strangers’ house for their Christmas Vacation, and on top of that spend Saturday night with an old cock-up like me.

No. 3 The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is bored with doing the same thing every year for Halloween. One day he stumbles into Christmas Town, and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bats, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween Town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween — but alas, they can’t get it quite right.

see it, believe it

Jack Skellington: Just because I cannot see it, doesn’t mean I can’t believe it!

No. 4 A Christmas Carol (1984)

In this classic, an old, bitter miser who rationalises his uncaring nature learns real compassion  when three spirits visit him on Christmas Eve – the Ghost of Christmas Present, Past and Future.

decrease the surplus population

Ghost of Christmas Present: If he’s like to die, he better do it and decrease the surplus population.

No. 5 A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)

Charlie Brown accepts, but it proves to be a frustrating struggle. When an attempt to restore the proper spirit with a forlorn little fir Christmas tree fails, he needs Linus’ help to learn what the real meaning of Christmas is.

end up feeling depressed
